We want to enable our customers, whether they use our free, or our professional version of our application to be able make the most out of their technology. Our phones are an extension of ourselves and we find in extremely pertinent that everyone should have access to deeper connection to themselves when using it. This is why we create technology that can facilitate this form of interaction.

Self, personal, or spiritual development and growth.
Journaling, therapy, affirmations or any form of highly sensitive and precious rituals.
Self talk, using the magic of voice to talk to ourselves to improve our mental wellbeing.
Creative expression, by safeguarding and spending time with our thoughts, ideas, and creative insights that can help manifest what we care about.

Your thoughts are your own

Your thoughts are your own. We take matters of data privacy very seriously. The CocoonWeaver app and its accompanying services are designed to maintain the private and personal nature of your thoughts, your ideas and your voice or audio recordings as well as your transcriptions thereof as well as your transcripts and text notes. It is in our core philosophy as a brand, company, organization, to allow anyone using our app to feel that they can open up to themselves using their technology. In every sense, privacy is fundamental, not only for our end user, but for our business model and and survival as a company.

This policy applies to the “CocoonWeaver” app published on the Apple App Store, the CocooonWeaver app, published on the Android Play Store, www.cocoonweaver.com (our website) and other sites and services related to CocoonWeaver.

These are the core principles of our policy:

  • Your audio and textual/transcript data is encrypted and stored on your personal device.
  • CocoonWeavers’ transcription is done on-device, meaning it does not leave your phone for processing.
  • We do not and cannot see or listen to your notes.
  • We don’t have access to any of your content.
  • We don’t collect any personally identifying information from the app.
  • Your data belongs to you.
We do not, and cannot monitor or source any of your thoughts, your recordings, transcripts, shares – nor do we collect any personally identifying information directly from you from the app.

To provide and improve our app and services, we do collect a limited amount of information and at dull disclosure, this policy outlines extensively what data we do and do not collect.



We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the highest level of privacy regulation. As such, we follow the obligations under
Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the applicable provincial legislations the EU’s General Protection Data Regulation (GDPR)
Brazil’s Data Protection Legislation (LGPD)
California’s Consumer Protection Act (CCPA) and California Online Privacy
Protection Act (CalOPPA)

Data Collection

We are firm believers in data minimization and strive to minimize the amount of information collected.

This privacy policy outlines what information (anonymous and personal) is collected and stored by our App(s) and related Services.
The Origin AG (“​Origin,” “​we​,” “​us​,” or “​our​”) operates the CocoonWeaver iOS, Apple WatchOS, Android and (future watch support) applications and related website www.cocoonweaver.com (each, an “​App​” or a “​Site​”, respectively) and several related services (all such services, “Services”).
Through our App and Services, we offer you a digital safe-space to capture, sort and access your thoughts, Ideas or memories, or anything data you generate in CocoonWeaver and, if you wish, share them with others as well.
This is your data and while we currently do not offer a cloud backup for privacy reasons, we offer you full control to export your content for your own storage and backup solutions.

What Information We Collect and How We Use It:

It is important to understand two aspects of data collection we implement here.
The CocoonWeaver App does not collect personal information which we can identify you with.
If you reach out to us, outside of the CocoonWeaver App, we will collect personal the information you provide, in order to contact you in order improve our services and communicate with you about these services.
In the course of using the App(s), Sites and Services, we collect both personal and anonymous information.
“​Personal Information​” in this Privacy Policy refers to information that allows someone to identify or contact you. Examples of Personal Information include your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, as well as any other non-public information about you that is associated with or linked to any of the foregoing information.
“​Anonymous Information​” is information not associated with or inherently linked to your Personal Information.
Anonymous Information does not enable identification of or contact with individual persons.

Personal Information:
We will use your Personal Information to:
Provide you with Services and customer support;
Respond to your requests, resolve disputes and/or troubleshoot problems;
Improve the quality of the App(s), Sites and the Services; and
Communicate with you about the App(s), Sites and the Services.

We will communicate with you by email or through our Site or social media platforms. If you sign up for newsletters and updates from us, you will receive a minimally intrusive newsletter. You can opt-out of these newsletters by replying back to the email with the title Unsubscribe or by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of each email.

We collect the following types of Personal Information:

Identifiable Information: We only collect personal Information that you submit to us voluntarily as you use our App, Site and Services.
If you provide us feedback or contact us via e-mail, we will collect your name and e-mail address, as well as any other content included in the e-mail, in order to send you a reply.
You can choose not to provide us with certain information, but this may limit the features of the Services you are able to use.
Social Media Platforms: Our services may include publicly accessible blogs, community forums, or private messaging features.
The Site and our other Services may also contain links and interactive features with various social media platforms (e.g., widgets). If you already use these platforms, their cookies may be set on your device when using our Site or other Services. You should be aware that Personal Information which you voluntarily include and transmit online in a publicly accessible blog, chat room, social media platform or otherwise online, or that you share in an open forum may be viewed and used by others without any restrictions.
We are unable to control such uses of your information when interacting with a social media platform, and by using such services you assume the risk that the Personal Information provided by you may be viewed and used by third parties for any number of purposes.

Third-Party Processing:

We use third-party data processing services to the minimum. Speech-to-text or transcription services are provided by Apple if you use the iOS native keyboard, or the Android Native keyboard voice transcription function (whereas the normal recording feature in CocoonWeaver stays on device only).
In-app data point analytics are performed through AWS Pinpoint with data stored at AWS servers in Germany. Apple’s AppStore, the Google PlayStore, Google Analytics and AWS are the only data processors that we use.

Anonymous Information:

To use our App, you do not need to register or provide any personal information. Only a unique non-identifiable ID is generated for each app user. All App data is stored encrypted and locally within your devices, namely, the iPhone and Apple Watch, or on your Android.

We will use your Anonymous Information to:
Enhance the Sites or Services
Improve the content of our software
Customize the App, Sites or Services

We collect the following types of Anonymous Information:

Device Information: When you download the App, we may collect your device type, and your individual device ID, but we do not associate this with your Personal Information. This device information is only used to provide you with Services and improve CocoonWeaver. For example, this information is very useful to understand how to fix bugs.

Information Collected by Our Servers: To make our Site and Services more useful to you, our servers (which may be hosted by a third party service provider) collect information from you, including your browser type, operating system, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address (a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet, which may vary from session to session), domain name, and/or a date/time stamp for your visit. We cannot personally identify you with this information.


Location Information:

The Maps feature within the iOS App allows you to geotag your recordings and notes. These geotags associated with your thoughts are stored on your personal device. We do not store or monitor this information on our servers. The IP addresses of user visits to our website are obscured by our automated systems such that is not human readable, in short, meaning that we do not see where you are geographically located.

Log Files:

As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes IP addresses (obfuscated), browser type, referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We use this information to analyze trends, administer the Site, track users’ movements around the Site, and better tailor our Services to our users’ needs. No information of yours registered by any of our Services are used to serve advertisements. We cannot personally identify you with this information.

Cookies:

Like many online services, we use cookies on our website to collect information. “Cookies” are small pieces of information that a website sends to your computer’s hard drive while you are viewing the website. We may use both session Cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent Cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them) to provide you with a more personal and interactive experience on our Site. This type of information is collected to make the Site more useful to you and to tailor the experience with us to meet your special interests and needs. We cannot personally identify you with this information.
We use Matoma web analytics platform hosted on our swiss-based web-hosting server to analyse user behaviour on our site www.cocoonweaver.com. Important to note here, is that we do not use this service to monitor our customers’ App usage.
No third-parties have access to this data. We cannot personally identify you with this information.

Mobile Services:

We collect non-personal information from your mobile device if you have downloaded our App(s) to your mobile device.
This information is used to help us improve the features and services that we provide within the App. Examples of information that may be collected and used include how you use the App(s) (which features are most frequently visited), and information about the type of device you use. In addition, in the event our App(s) crash on your mobile device, we will receive information about your mobile device model software version and device carrier, which allows us to identify and fix bugs and otherwise improve the performance of our App(s). This information is sent to us as aggregated information and is not traceable to any individual and cannot be used to identify an individual. We cannot personally identify you with this information.

Combining Anonymous and Personal Information:

We do not combine personal and anonymous information in any way.

How We Disclose Information:

Personal Information-

We do not disclose any personal information to third parties.
If we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to (a) resolve disputes, investigate problems, or enforce our Terms of Service; (b) comply with relevant laws or to respond to requests from law enforcement or other government officials relating to investigations or alleged illegal activity, in which case we can (and you authorize us to) disclose Personal Information without subpoenas or warrants served on us; or (c) protect and defend our rights or property or the rights and property of you or third parties, we might do so.

Anonymous Information-

We reserve the right to use Anonymous Information to improve our app and related services without restriction.

Controlling Your Information / Request For Removal –

You can stop all collection of information by the App(s) by uninstalling the App(s). You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network.
If you want us to delete your Personal Information (name, email address, etc), please contact us at team@cocoonweaver.com with your request. We will start the process to delete your information in a reasonable time.

Information Disclosed to Third Parties-

We do not disclose any information about our users to advertisers and marketers.

This Privacy Policy addresses only our use and disclosure of information we collect from and/or about you on the Sites and Services. If you disclose information to others, the use and disclosure restrictions contained in this Privacy Policy will not apply to any third party. We do not control the privacy policies of third parties, and you are subject to the privacy policies of those third parties where applicable. Please make sure that you are aware of, and have read, and agreed to the privacy policies of our data processors.

The Sites may contain content or links to other websites that are not owned or controlled by us. We have no control over, do not review and are not responsible for the privacy policies of or content displayed on such other websites. When you click on such a link, you will leave our Site and go to another site. During this process, another entity may collect Personal Information or Anonymous Information from you. The Site may also contain links to other websites controlled by us but which operates under different privacy policies. Please review the privacy policy of any new site you visit.

Changes to this Privacy Policy:
This Privacy Policy is subject to revision from time to time on an ongoing basis. We will post any revised version of the Privacy Policy, on this very page. The users of our App(s) will be available to access it through hyperlinks from within the App(s). Continued use of our App, Site and Services, following such revisions in Privacy Policy, will indicate your acknowledgement of such revisions and agreement to be bound by the terms and conditions of such changes.

Your Rights to Your Personal Data:

You have the right to obtain personal data we hold about you, in a structured, electronic format, and to transmit such data to another data controller, where this is (a) personal data which you have provided to us, and (b) if we are processing that data on the basis of your consent or to perform a contract with you or the third party that subscribes to BJ Nortier services.

Where the legal justification for our processing of your personal data is our legitimate interest, you have the right to object to such processing on grounds relating to your particular situation.
